To celebrate the first anniversary of Galerie NOIR NOIR, this special performance places the griot at its centre: storyteller, guardian of history, language and cultural heritage. Today, this oral tradition continues to resonate through contemporary art forms such as hip-hop, spoken word and jazz.
International musicians and artists from the African diaspora explore how the griot has evolved from a traditional storyteller into a contemporary urban storyteller. In an intimate setting combining musical and visual experimentation, DJ Eni-Less, TheNameisDamaris, KARPACHII (Michael Wanga), Bruno Ferro Xavier Da Silva, Malumba Anderson and special guest Kay Slice bring together music, spoken word and visuals in an immersive experience where past and present meet. Surrounded by African and Afro-Caribbean artworks, the griot tradition comes alive once again, creating a powerful narrative about identity, memory and cultural continuity.
